Samples-simulators are designed to determine the concavity and convexity of the root of the weld when conducting radiographic monitoring of welded joints. Parameters are estimated visually and / or using a densitometer, in which it is necessary to compare the optical density of images with the optical density of a groove or a protrusion on a simulator sample. The product is made in accordance with the requirements of PNAE G-7-017-89.
Parameter | №1 | №2 | №3 | №4 | №5 |
Depth of groove, h1, mm | 0,6 ± 0,06 | 0,8 ± 0,1 | 1,0 ± 0,1 | 1,2 ± 0,12 | 1,6 ± 0,16 |
Height of protrusion, h2, mm | 1,5 ± 0,15 | 2,0 ± 0,2 | 2,0 ± 0,2 | 2,0 ± 0,2 | 2,5 ± 0,25 |
Thickness, h3, mm | 1,5 ± 0,15 | 2,0 ± 0,2 | 2,0 ± 0,2 | 2,0 ± 0,2 | 2,5 ± 0,25 |
Groove width, mm | 2,0 ± 0,2 | 2,0 ± 0,2 | 2,0 ± 0,2 | 3,0 ± 0,3 | 4,0 ± 0,4 |
Protrusion width, b, mm | 3,0 ± 0,3 | 4,0 ± 0,4 | 4,0 ± 0,4 | 4,0 ± 0,4 | 5,0 ± 0,5 |
For measurements, it is necessary to select a sample simulator according to the maximum permissible values of the concavity and convexity of the root of the seam. The thickness of the sample should be equal to the gain of the weld to be tested. Next, the sample simulator is fixed on the test object opposite the radiation source with a distance of 5 mm from the seam. In some cases, it is allowed to fix the sample-simulator from the side of x-ray film. Thus, the optical density of the image of the sample simulator in the image should be equal to the optical density of the image of the weld.
